The New Inn Baschurch

Marcus Bean, owner and chef at the New Inn was recently selected to take part in the Iron Chef UK competition which was shown on channel 4.

Marcus and three other challengers went head to head against the Iron chef, creating dishes including a special ingredient.  At the end on each day their individual dishes were scored by a team of food critics. Over the 4 challenger days Marcus had achieved the most points putting him through to the Friday final.

The Friday final was to compete against the two Michellin star chef, Martin Blunos. They competed head to head creating two starters and two main courses each, using the special ingredient, whole hind of lamb.

Each dish was carefully judged and at the end of the day the score were counted and the winner was announced……
